Walls
2 gallons
- Wall area
- 334 sq ft
- Paint needed
- 1.9 gal
Ceiling
none
144 sq ft
Allows about 20 sq ft per door and 15 sq ft per window. Rounded up to the nearest quart; buying a gallon is often cheaper than three quarts. Add primer for patches, bare drywall or big color changes.
Getting it right
- Measure walls, not floors. Use the length of each wall and the height from floor to ceiling.
- Two coats give a more even finish, and you usually need them when changing color.
- Keep a little extra for touch-ups, labeled with the room and date.
- Trim and doors are usually a different finish. A quart covers the trim in most rooms.
Next: paint a room, start to finish and choose the right finish.
