Assemble flat-pack furniture without the stress
Sort, read, build and anchor tall furniture to the wall.
Flat-pack furniture is a good confidence builder. Organized, it goes together smoothly; rushed, it ends with a backwards panel at step 14.
Set up
- Open the box on a rug or the box itself to protect panels and floors
- Count hardware against the list and sort it into cups or a muffin tin
- Read every step once before starting
Build
- Check which side of each panel faces out (look for pre-drilled holes and finished edges)
- Leave screws slightly loose until the frame is square, then tighten
- Use a drill/driver on low clutch, or finish by hand, to avoid stripping particleboard
- Keep the instructions with your house records
Anchor tall furniture
Dressers, bookcases and TV stands can tip over onto children. Use the anti-tip kit that comes with the furniture and fix it to a stud or a suitable anchor.
